A time to listen

~The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.~ Romans 8:16

Grab your camera and go outside.

But it's cold outside, and gray and...well, not too pretty out there!

Learn to see with your heart...and with my Spirit that is within you.

Okay Lord.

So I donned my long johns, put on my boots, and scarf;  grabbed my camera, and walked outside into the cold dampness....

It is at times like this when things look so dormant and lifeless, that the enemy will try to entice us into a 'greener pasture' type of thinking...taking our mind away from the things that we should be focusing on, enjoying the blessings God has given to us...And if we are not careful we will find ourselves feeling discontent and depressed...Winter is only a phase, a passing but necessary one...Think of the animals asleep under the ground or in their dens...not worrying about needing to hunt or scavenge for's like they are resting in the Lord...Not dead, just resting. This is a time where life seems to slow down, sometimes to a (seemingly) grinding halt.
It's a time to listen...

Buddy, ever the over-achiever!
Let's dance with a branch!

I'm glad I listened..I have a smile on my face, roses on my cheeks, and a new perspective.

5 Your lovingkindness, O Lord, [d]extends to the heavens,
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
6 Your righteousness is like the [e]mountains of God;
Your judgments are like a great deep.
O Lord, You preserve man and beast.
7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
8 They drink their fill of the [f]abundance of Your house;
And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights.
9 For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light...... (Psalm 36)

Thank you Lord for all your blessings!

Wow Lisa, I love what you say here. So often I allow my thoughts to think, if only...I am looking for greener pastures. But I have green pastures, right here, right now in Christ Jesus. I can take refuge in the shadow of His wings. There is no better place to be. Thank you for sharing this and God bless,

Hi Lisa,
Always such huge rewards when we obey God. :) Thanks for sharing. :))

I remember well Ontario's winters. Very damp but oh so beautiful! I love the frost on the windows and the frost laden trees and bushes. Didn't really enjoy sliding through the intersections but all is needed is extra safety measures.

Enjoy the amazing winter time that is left, soon it will be spring.

I read this blog earlier this week but now I have time to react. I wish I could walk with you, and play with the dog. In the beautiful white world.

How are you now? And your familiy? Thank you for the beautiful 'spiritual things'( or lesson), which you pass to this blog.

Big hug, your Dutch friend.

Hi Ken,
I guess all in all, we are so much like the children of Israel, always looking for something more when God is doing great things right where we are under His loving sheltering wing! ~God bless you too, my brother~

Hi Child of God,
You are right, it is so beautiful, each season has it's own splendor...but, I have slid through my share of intersections too, lol!

Hi Jedidja,

You are so much like me, I read a blog, and then try to get back to comment later on, I would rather leave a comment that I can spend more than a moment on...but I am always interested in what is happening in everyone's life, so I must check often, even though there may not be time to write a comment right then...that is okay.
My family is doing well... (God be praised)!
This white world has become quite wet and foggy over the last two days...I did take a picture of the foggy yard this morning...School was cancelled because of the fog.
I am always amazed how, through the internet, we can build friendships with people from the other side of the world...people who we would never get to meet otherwise...I have met so many nice people from so many sure makes life more interesting!
~God Bless~ ((Hugs)) Your American friend ;)

Hi Karen,

It is so much fun to see how God can give us a simple lesson through everyday stuff that seems so insignificant, but ends up teaching us a great truth...You know as a photographer, how to see things differently through a lens in order to make a shot worth something...I think that is how God wants us to use our 'spiritual eyes'...we would never be bored again, if we paid closer attention, I believe.~God bless you too~ Lisa

Hi Lisa,
yes it is so true how we tend to see more beauty in the colourful busy times in our lives. Yet Winter, just like our own dormant times , also has much beauty.... just different. Lovely post and lovely pics of a very happy dog.

Lisa, I needed your gentle reminder to quit my own "greener pastures" thinking. It's been so cold and dreary here but there is beauty to be found in all the days if we just look for it with His eyes. bes wishes to you and your family and I'm praying you all stay well.

Hi Peggy,

I think we all needed this reminder that God remains the same, and is always a source of our delight, no matter what we see around us!
Praying you and your family continue to be well also, dear one.

I can relate all too well to the "greener pasture dream." It seems that during this season of my life, God is calling me to much resting in Him, and it's not always easy. However, in the end, I will learn that it will prove to be beneficial.

It is very hard sometimes to accept where we are in our lives. If we trust in the Lord and we are faithful to his calling, then we should always feel that we are just where we are supposed to be...doing what He would have us to do.
I used to be so busy when I worked at a career. I remember telling a coworker how my ordinance book (for my job) was looking very dog-eared like my Bible. I look back now, and wish my Bible had gotten the attention that I had to give to that ordinance book! I now have all the time I need to spend in the Word, but sometimes I am still too distracted. I think what matters most is not where we are, but how we are serving God wherever we are. Yes, we will learn that trusting and resting in Him was beneficial instead of seeking our own way.

On Earth As It Is In Heaven

Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what ...
