Needing Lots Of Prayers

UPDATE:
I am OK... Praise the LORD!!!
Deb cannot get her surgery yet due to another health issue, so please
Continue praying for her.
And thank you for all your prayers and words of encouragement!
Love you all!

Jeff and I just got over the flu this past week or I would have posted sooner.
On February third my primary care doctor found two lumps one on each ovary. He has ordered an ultrasound for next week (on the 25th). Please pray it is not cancer.
Also on that same day, my dear friend Deb, whom I've known for twenty years or so, found out that she has kidney cancer.
She will be undergoing surgery on the 24th. Please pray they can remove it without any complication, and that it has not spread.
I've also been (at the insistence of my primary doctor) researching my father's side of the family. As many know, I did not know my father. I only met him one time.
In September while researching family genealogy for Deb, I accidentally came upon an obituary for my father. I knew he had died in 2007, but I did not know the information on his relatives. I found out that he had been preceded in death by a daughter. Upon further research, I found her name was Sharon and she had died in 1994 at age 47.
This concerned me because of the genetic connection between breast/ovarian cancers.
I had already been told by my sister that my father's sister Donelda had died from what she believed was breast cancer back in the 70's at age 49. (though an aunt with the disease did not concern my oncologist...he said it must be a closer relative).
I have had no luck in finding the cause of Sharon's death. I have even used that ancestry website and contacted other members with a connection to the same tree...to no avail.
Even a phone call to the county which she died gave no information...and since I cannot prove relationship to her, they will not release her death certificate to me.
If I knew if these women died from either breast or ovarian cancers...then I would be able to make certain decisions, and so would my three daughters.
The testing for the BRC1 mutaion is very expensive, and not always accurate as it is still early in the technology....so I must know if I have a high risk before getting the test.
So your prayers are so very needed at this time for both Deb and myself.
~Blessings & Love~
Lisa

  1. Praying for wisdom.

I think there is a lot of good that can come from these tests. They will let you know genetic information that you simply don't have access to otherwise. Even if your relatives passed from something else, you don't know what their history is or other family.

  2. Sigh - my heart goes out to you. And to Deb. Of course I will be praying. And, along with the health issues, I'm also going to ask God to open doors in some way for you to find out more information. My hubby never knew his dad, and so I understand a little about dealing with that. If it's any encouragement, I know that ovarian cysts are fairly common, and they are not cancerous. I had one myself. So, this will be my prayer - that it is nothing serious.

And I will definitely lift up Deb before our Lord.

    GOD BLESS.

  3. Thanks, Sharon
It is so difficult when there's a whole half of family history missing. I would love to know more, and especially right now. I too am very hopeful that they are only cysts...I know that's far more common than ovarian cancer...even in women with breast cancer, though the risk is slighly higher.
    God is still in control.
And thanks for your prayers for Deb too, my friend.
    God bless you~Lisa

  11. I am praying for you Lisa, along with everyone else.
Try to keep in mind that we are a new creation in Christ Jesus and our creator is One who can do all things. What is not possible with man is very possible with God and all the promises of God are 'Yes' in Jesus. I know this is a very hard thing to do sometimes when our carnal mind will fill up with only what is possible with man, but with the Lord's help we will take captive all thoughts that doubt what He is able to do.
Lord, we ask You to step in here and take all doubt and fear from Lisa's mind, filling it with hope and faith, and we give You thanks that Your word says that:-
'Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven' (Matthew ch. 18 v. 19). So we ask according to Your Word for Lisa and Debbie to be healed, and give You thanks for answered prayer that will glorify our God in Heaven. Amen.

  12. Lisa, thank you so much for stopping by my blog earlier today and giving me a "follow". I am grateful to "meet" you. You are added to my prayer list...and I'll be adding you to my blog roll which is reached by clicking on the African violet on my right side bar so that I won't miss any updates. I will certainly be in prayer for both you and your friend Deb. I recently had a mammogram that was not normal and went through the whole procedure (which ended at the biopsy) then a visit with the surgeon again. I am grateful to God that it was benign...I am praying He will give you and Deb both good results in the long run. It is a scary thing...especially when you can't locate information about others from your father's side of the family.

    1. Its wonderful to meet you Diana...Your blog is very lovely.
I actually had a scare two years prior to the cancer...It was a calcification and required a biopsy. I dodged the bullet that time.
My mammogram this time around did not detect the cancer. I found it myself on the same day as the mammogram.
Very important to listen to your own instincts if anything just does not feel right. (even if they say it is nothing)...I believe it is God who spoke to me about the lump needing to get looked at again, and that saved my life!
So now, when I am waiting again, it helps me to remember that God is still in control of it all!
Thanks so much for your prayers, Dianna. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better!

  13. My dear friend, please be assured of my prayers for you. Our doctors have the training, and they go by what they know. For that I am praising God for the medical attention that you have received. I also believe that there is a much higher being, the Triune God - God our Sovereign Father, Jesus our Creator and King, and the Holy Spirit our Healer who has power over you and any disease that may have entered your bloodline from generations back. I am praying for divine healing for you. May your heart be at rest and at peace in whatever information is or is not available to you at this point. Jehovah Rophe is the God who heals you. And I declare that any reproach on God's children has been rolled away by the death of Jesus, the Lamb of God. Much love,
    Lidia

    1. Dear Lidia, your words give me so much hope and comfort. I know the doctors are but a tool in the hands of God...But, God is the one who knows our innermost being, the one who has his hand on every inch of our frames, and he determines our coming in and our going out.
Already he has given me much peace about this. And I think I answer for Deb as well when I say that we are resting in the hand of our Father now. It is a good place to be while he works out the necessary repairs. I am so blessed with friends who love our Savior, and who listen to our Father's voice...It helps keep us aware of Gods plan in our lives...especially when temporal things try to distract us so.
      Much love and ((hugs))~ Lisa
