LIVING WATER

Water; I'm drawn to it, and so are you. The effect of water on our health is well documented. But not just water, moving water. Moving water, whether from a waterfall, or water simply sprayed from a yard hose, generates something called
negative ions. You can read more in detail here: http://www.health-benefit-of-water.com/negative-ions.html .
This effect that moving water has on us reminds me of how Jesus says He gives us living water:

John 4:10
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.John 4:9-11 (in Context) John 4 (Whole Chapter)
John 4:11
The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
John 4:10-12 (in Context) John 4 (Whole Chapter)
John 7:38
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
John 7:37-39 (in Context) John 7 (Whole Chapter)

And in the old testament God refers to Himself as the fountain of living waters.

Jeremiah 2:13
For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
Jeremiah 2:12-14 (in Context) Jeremiah 2 (Whole Chapter)
Jeremiah 17:13
O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.
Jeremiah 17:12-14 (in Context) Jeremiah 17 (Whole Chapter)

And God promises a day when ...

Zechariah 14:7-9

King James Version (KJV)

7But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
8And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
9And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

Revelation 7:17
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Recently I visited a Lake Michigan shoreline. I have always been drawn to places like this, even though I don't particularily like to swim, nor am I a boat enthusiast; I still am drawn to the water, and the lasting effects on my mood and even on my physical health can linger for days afterward.
So I got to thinking about the encounter the Samaritan woman had with Jesus at the well.  I re-read this story in John chapter 4, with a new perspective.  Jesus is offering the woman a gift ..
10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
This gift will last for eternity..14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Well then, I began to imagine myself encountering Jesus in that way. Suddenly I can understand the force that draws us to the Lord is the response our dry thirsty spirit feels to the life giving energy of the fountain of Living Water. much like how we are drawn to moving water, only a hundredfold!..Our mortal bodies can not live for long without water..Our spirit can not live without Jesus!
